First page

I had to put together a rough draft of the first line to make some judgments about how to organize the text and where to put the page turns

Enlarging the text makes the foliage stand out, but it breaks up the 2nd line.

I do not expect to lose as much detail shrinking the animated typography on this page because the lines are clear.

Stabilized and color matched

It is a little fast, but this is the animation to accompany the Vine-Text
"Once upon a time there was probably a goose
there were probably a lot of geese
and this goose was no exception
but he didn't know that
because he was just a goose"

Coloring the Goose

I am adding color to the goose. This is the last shot I got before the camera battery died (it has been taking all day to charge, so I will finish tomorrow.

A few of the shots of the process for the animation.

Subsurface Scattering

I added Sub Surface Scattering to the scene with a HDRI environment sphere to get the color for the image. It looks good, but the render time is very high.

Using the HDRI as Lighting

I used a cheap plastic Christmas ornament as a light probe yesterday. There are some artifacts, but it is much better than it was before.

The Raw image is a little dark. Probably because I have not yet mastered balancing the levels of the HDRI.

After Tweaking the Levels

Soften the edges to match the lens. I think the color is a pretty close match, but I need to add a projector with a breakup, and sub surface scattering to the goose (I can't find the file with the SSS layers, so I just duplicated the bump map layer; the material doesn't look much like feathers without the layers)

ReGoose

I redrew the goose, and took pictures every few strokes to animate the process

Rare Books and Light Probes

I found my camera, and I used it to shoot light probes from the areas I shot in cloudy weather (I already had one for the sunny days in Goodale Park around 2-3 pm, but I misplaced my camera before the Doo-Dah parade, which was cloudy, and in a very different area.).

I couldn't use a flash, and a Librarian had to hold some of the more interesting books, because they didn't have a pillow for the bigger ones, but I got a lot of images of a variety of book covers, paper, font, and embellishments.

Several of these were hundreds of years old, and you would not expect them to be pop up, but they fit the fairy tale aesthetic. I might start with the older cover, and gradually fade into the newer stuff as I begin to incorporate color images and animation.
